Only a few days ago, MediaTek unveiled its flagship SoC, the Dimensity 9000, and now comes word of the company’s rumored upper mid-range offering for 2022, the Dimensity 7000. The information originates from a well-known Chinese Weibo tipster.
According to the report, MediaTek’s next Dimensity 7000 chipset, which is built on TSMC’s 5nm manufacturing process and leverages ARM’s new V9 architecture, which is also used in the Dimensity 9000, has entered the testing phase.
Although it’s too early to speculate on clock speeds and CPU combinations, the so-called Digital Chat Station claims that the SoC’s fast charging support will fall somewhere between the Snapdragon 870 and the Snapdragon 888, at around 75W. That certainly sounds encouraging for a non-flagship processor.
